Ink painting with Byoung Soo Cho
Spending time in this workshop with Byoung Soo Cho was a reminder that architecture can be both humble and profound. He speaks softly, but his ideas carry weight: materials are not decorative choices, they are living participants in the dialogue between building and nature.
Through the art of painting using the traditional ink from Korea his teaching was not about an art form separate from architecture, but as its quiet ancestor talking a bout the importance of void, an essential part of the space. In Korean tradition, ink is more than pigment. It is a philosophy of restraint, of leaving space for breath, of allowing nature to speak through the simplest stroke.
